Monday 25th September
My oldest got a bike for his fourth birthday; he’s 5 next month and he has probably only ridden it a handful of times. We don’t have a footpath outside our house, it’s over on the other side of the road. Our driveway slopes downhill straight to the road and our backyard is mostly grass. This makes playing on scooters and bikes tricky. So I was excited to hear about this reserve that is set up like a mini road for kids to learn the basic road rules and have lots of space to safely zoom around safely.
Westburn Reserve in Burside is a fabulous place to bring the kids with their bikes and scooters.
It is the perfect place to teach your child how to ride a bike and for older children it has lots of intersections and common road signs so they can learn basic road rules.
There is also a playground and picnic tables in the reserve.
We had such a fun morning here. If only there was a park like this closer to home!
Adventure Tip: do some research on the parks and reserves in your city. You never know what gems are hiding away for you and the kids to discover.
You have a beautiful neighbourhood
